Web Marketing 101:
In this article, Web Marketing 101, I will tell you the basics to get your web site well known across the world wide web... just the basics...but hey it's a 101 course!
You have a web site. It sits there. No one visits it except your mom. Damn. She probably even bought your record or whatever you sell. You start to think that you have a web site only a mother could love. Well maybe your web site is not that bad. Maybe you have some great ideas or products others would truly love, Well, why aren't they flocking to your site to buy it? Probably because there are millions of other web sites out there competing with your site and Google, Yahoo, and MSN do not have your site ranked well because it was never optimized! Yeah, you know it has to be that.
So how do you get your web site known?
This is where some optimization techniques come into play. For simplicity I will avoid discussing tricks to fool search engine bots; trickery only screws you in the end. So we will stick to approved optimization techniques.
It all starts with quality content.
Text content: Write well, do not plagiarize (google will know), and write a lot. Make sure your content is relevant. The more content you have the better. And make each page focuses on one or two keywords or phrases. Your web page content, meta descriptions, keywords, page title, and text links should all be closely related to your keyword for that page.
Images: Add relevant images with names, links and titles.
Link: Link text and images to relevant resources on your web site or another web site (I only do this if it is necessary; I like to keep them on my web or my partner sites). Describe the links. The more rich content you can provide the better.
